Why Courtney Started Empowerotica

My journey into women's sexual health and wellness kicked off in 2018, the moment I first held my daughter. Buuuuuut let's be real, I've been advocating for women since I was old enough to argue with adults. Case in point: seventh grade, career day assignment. I boldly chose "independent business owner," busted my ass for hours, and still got slapped with an F because my teacher thought I was trying to take the "easy way out." Joke’s on him! Turns out, advocating fiercely for women’s autonomy became my whole damn mission.

Fast-forward through personal battles with sexual trauma, intimacy that felt tainted by shame, and societal bullshit that tried to tell me otherwise, I wasn’t having it. I built Empowerotica, a badass community committed to celebrating every body, every kink, every truth. No shame. No judgment. Just radical self-love and authentic sexual expression.

Here’s the deal: we're done apologizing. We trade stigma for curiosity, shame for empowerment, and judgment for authenticity. Because every single one of us deserves to feel sexy, powerful, and perfectly badass in our own skin. Exactly. as. we. are.

"Hydrate, Meditate, Masturbate, Repeat..."

In the middle of raising four wild and wonderful daughters, fronting a female-led rock band with my partner, and still slinging my shears and slaying color as a seasoned hairdresser, something clicked in 2022: this wasn’t just a side passion anymore.. sexual wellness was my calling, and I had a global platform to raise some serious hell (in the best way). I saw the impact I could make, the lives I could change.. and I wasn’t about to play small.

Juggling all the hats- mom, business owner, band frontwoman, creative, neurodivergent queen (hello ADHD, OCD, and a dash of anxiety)- meant I had to get smart about support. I stopped trying to do it all myself, brought on an assistant, and started hosting what I like to call "working happy hours" with fellow badass entrepreneurs. Because community, laughter, and getting shit done can actually co-exist.

One of my life mantras- “Hydrate, Meditate, Masturbate, Repeat.” And yes, I print that on koozies for my clients. (Though, full disclosure: one ended up in my kid’s backpack and made it to school. Oops. Parenting win? You decide.)

"So, here's to consent, exploration, self-love, and living unapologetically...."

In under a year, I built a community of almost a half of million unapologetic humans who are done with shame and ready to reclaim their bodies, their pleasure, and their damn truth. I’ve been featured on podcasts, published in Bustle, and gotten loud about sexual health in spaces that once tried to silence voices like mine. Why? Because when we start talking openly about consent, curiosity, and self-love, things start to shift and that ripple turns into a fucking tidal wave.

This work isn’t about shock value. It’s about liberation. It’s about realizing that admiring your own reflection isn’t vanity!! It’s rebellion. It’s healing. It’s power.

My values? Crystal clear. Confidentiality. Trust. Openness. Transparent AF. And a zero shame policy- always.

The bigger vision? A world where we stop confusing silence with consent. Where people actually feel safe in their own skin. Where relationships get deeper, sex gets better, and minds get clearer because we’re no longer carrying the weight of shame. I believe when you embrace your sexual self, you unlock a version of life that’s bolder, freer, and a hell of a lot more fun.

So here’s to living unfiltered. To consent, exploration, self-adoration..... and letting things get a little wild, only if you want them to. Cheers to building a world where pleasure is respected, bodies are celebrated, and no one’s turned away for showing up exactly as they are.

"One of the best things that ever happened to me is that I'm a woman. That is the way all females should feel."
